East Cooper Civic Club Welcomes You

The Land & Community

East Cooper Civic Club aka ECCC, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established under the laws of South Carolina. The East Cooper Civic Club, formalized by concerned citizens of Remley’s Point in 1966, extends from “the foot of the bridge” to Awendaw. The earliest goal of the club was to protect the original intent and plan of the Scanlonville/Remley’s Point community as designed in 1870.

At East Cooper Civic Club we’re raising funds and promoting initiatives to serve the people who need them most. We believe in taking action with urgency in order to raise public awareness about some of the most pressing issues facing Charleston's historically African-American communities. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others.

“ The great force of history comes

from the fact that we carry it

within us, are unconsciously

controlled by it in many ways, and

history is present in all that we do.

It could scarcely be otherwise,

since it is to history that we owe

our frames of reference, our

identities and our aspirations.”

James Baldwin
